Hospice will remain a core piece of Enhabit Inc.’s (NYSE: EHAB) strategic growth plans following its recent announcements to remain a standalone business. The company was mum about its strategic decision not to sell in Thursday’s earnings call, but executives elaborated on its home health and hospice focal points. Dallas-headquartered Enhabit has been mulling a potential sale since investors floated the idea in June 2023.

Members of Congress are demanding answers from the U.S. Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) on continuing evidence of hospice fraud and quality issues. Reps. Beth Van Duyne (R-Texas) and Earl Blumenaur (D-Ore.) led a coalition of 38 congressional lawmakers who in a letter asked CMS for further information on how the agency intends to address these problems.
