Employment in the home-based care sector rose above pre-pandemic levels in 2023, according to the Medicare Payment Advisory Commission (MedPAC). The U.S. Department of Commerce defines this sector to include hospices, home health agencies, private duty, pediatric agencies and other providers of care in the home.

Bill Would Create New State-Level Pediatric Hospice, Palliative Care Program

Connecticut legislators recently introduced a bill that aims to create a statewide pediatric hospice and palliative program. If enacted, the bill would require the Connecticut Department of Public Health (DPH) to create a plan for the development of the program and establish general statutes around its implementation. The plan would have to be completed by Jan. 1, 2025.

BCEN Celebrates “RN-credible” Nurses on Certified Nurses Day

Today is Certified Nurses Day, and the Board of Certification for Emergency Nursing (BCEN) is celebrating its over 50,000 “ RN-credible ” specialty-certified emergency, trauma, transport, and burn nurses and nationally certified nurses in every specialty. In their 2023 Annual Report, BCEN revealed that over 60,000 BCEN credentials are held by nurses in 28 countries, with over 40,000 RNs possessing the Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) credential.
