If a patient is experiencing uncontrolled symptoms, a higher level of home care called continuous care can be initiated. This usually involves extended hours of in-home nursing care to reduce pain or other symptoms. Hospice care includes comprehensive grief and bereavement support services for patients and their families.

Eric: It really reminds me, we just did a couple podcasts on grief and part of grief is that where there’s often a movement towards acceptance, you never go back to who you were.

And I would tell him not to underestimate the grief that he is going to experience. Darrell: But for me personally, I actually got involved with David Kessler’s organization in Southern California, and went through a grief educators program for him. Darrell: First, I would say this is not going to be over in 90 days.
