We additionally have a debate/discussion about which outcomes of ACP matter most, including Terri Fried’s commentary in JAGS that caregiver outcomes matter more than goal concordant care (the “holy grail”), completion of advance directives, or changes in health care services use. Complicated grief? Did they have PTSD?

Through a series of events, I started working as a consultant to the Department of Corrections in around 2006, and I was assigned to the California Medical Facility. And we have a 17-bed inpatient hospice that serves men from throughout the state of California who choose to have comfort-focused treatment at the end of their lives.
