The number of registered nurse and social worker visits during a patient’s final week is one of the seven quality measures that CMS uses to evaluate providers. Patients may be receiving several visits from these professionals during the last days of life, or multiple visits on the same day, that do not count toward the measure, she said.

Eden Health recently announced plans to acquire Washington state-based Community Home Health & Hospice’s (CHHH) inpatient programs. Eden Health will take over Community’s inpatient services effective May 1, 2023. The home health, hospice and palliative care provider operates 36 locations and serves roughly 1,540 patients annual.

Hospice of the Panhandle Promotes New CEO from Within West Virginia-based Hospice of the Panhandle has appointed Chief Clinical Officer Nikki Bigiarelli as its new CEO. Bigiarelli will work alongside its current CEO Margaret Cogswell before she retires on June 1, 2023. The hospice world is constantly changing,” Bigiarelli said.
