Bristol Hospice was founded in 2006 and provides hospice and palliative care across more than 45 locations in 13 states nationwide. Hospice of Southern Maine’s is also onboarding social workers Elizabeth Leclaire and Sara Olmsted, as well as Maria McCann as bereavement support counselor.

Palliative medicine grew out of the hospice movement and was recognized as its own medical subspecialty along with hospice in 2006. Add this to the regular visits of home aides, volunteers, social workers, the chaplain, and more, and it’s easy to see how hospice can fill needs that have become more intensive.
