It's fair to say that the last few months have been a controversial one in the hospice and palliative care communities when it comes to ACP, triggered by Dr Sean Morrison's editorial in Journal of Palliative Medicine : Advance Directives/Care Planning: Clear, Simple, and Wrong. He founded Pallimed in 2005.

In 2005, Gary Franklin, MD, MPH, Director of the Labor and Industry Program, who would later become PROP’s Vice President of State Regulatory Affairs, published an article alleging that “that tolerance or opioid-induced abnormal pain sensitivity may be occurring in some workers who use opioids for chronic pain (9).” 2005 Aug;48(2):91-9.

I have been an Emergency Nurse since 2005. As a palliative care nurse I provide comfort and care to patients with terminal diseases or who are end of life, while supporting the family. I am a Critical Care Nurse (CCRN) in Intensive Care at a major tertiary hospital and state-wide trauma service.
