Hospice of the Chesapeake Appoints New CMO Maryland-based Hospice of the Chesapeake recently named Dr. Marny Fetzer as its new chief medical officer. Fetzer is currently system medical director for palliative care and hospice services at Illinois-based Ascension Health.

Brickner takes the helm of VITAS’ hospice locations in Kansas City, Kansas, as well as across Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston and San Antonio, Texas. He joined the hospice provider in 2015 as director of market development before moving up the ranks to general manager in 2018 and senior general manager in 2022.

We were very successful at providing it at a break-even point in a skilled nursing or a senior living setting or even a hospital setting, but we struggled in the home setting, and a lot of that actually had to do with: how do we educate our clinicians and treat them more like we do in hospice? I think we’re coming a long way.
