Bristol Hospice Taps New CFO, Division President

Bristol Hospice is reshaping its executive leadership with the appointment of Michael Derrick as its new CFO and Brett Jackson as division president.

Derrick joined the company last year as senior vice president of finance. He succeeds former CFO Gerry Christenson, who is retiring. Derrick came to Bristol from Tula Health, where he raised more than $82 million in investor capital.

Bristol is a portfolio company of Webster Equity Partners.

“[Derrick] proved in a short amount of time to be such an incredible addition to the finance team,” Bristol Hospice CEO Alex Mauricio said in a statement. “The record-breaking year that we have had at Bristol no doubt could not have happened without [Derrick] and his team’s partnership with every department.”

Salt Lake City-based Bristol Hospice employs more than 3,000 staff in close to 80 locations across 18 states. About 17 of those locations will now be overseen by Brett Jackson as division president, including operations in 13 states.

Jackson is a registered nurse who started his health care career in 2012 at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock, Arkansas. He went on to provide case management services for Gentiva Hospice, where he worked for 10 years, including in several leadership positions.

Most recently, he served as vice president of business development for Gentiva.

“Brett’s experience, track record and people first mentality, is exactly what our growing company demands. Our organization has been built by individuals that are the best of the best in each of their local markets and staunch advocates for the communities they serve,” Mauricio said. “Brett, having served his community in both a front-line nursing capacity as well as a marketing professional, brings a unique perspective that will allow him to listen, relate and ultimately best serve his people as a leader should.”
