Charles von Gunten, Lynn McPherson, Rosene Pirrello, and Gary Buckholz played a pivotal role in introducing me to the field and facilitating a seamless transition into this specialty. Their mentorship provided the foundation for my passion and dedication to HAPC. I extend my appreciation to my pharmacist colleague mentors, Drs. Brookie Best and Linda Awdishu, who have not only been exemplary professionals but trailblazers for women in science. Their commitment and achievements have inspired me to navigate my own path in the field, breaking barriers and contributing to the advancement of palliative care. A special acknowledgment goes to Dr. Kyle Edmonds, my valued colleague in research, teaching, and clinical care. Working alongside Dr. Edmonds has been an enriching experience, and I couldn’t have asked for a better teammate. His collaboration has undoubtedly shaped my contributions to HAPC, fostering a spirit of teamwork and shared dedication to our common goals.

Lastly, my deepest gratitude extends to my family, whose unwavering support has been the bedrock of my pursuit of a meaningful career in HAPC. Their encouragement and understanding have allowed me to focus on making a difference in the lives of those facing serious illnesses. In summary, the collective influence of these mentors, colleagues, and my supportive family has profoundly shaped my approach to HAPC, molding me into a dedicated professional with a commitment to excellence and meaningful contributions in the field.
