BAYADA, Manatee Health System Launch Home-Based Care Joint Venture

BAYADA Home Health Care has formed a joint venture with Universal Health Services (NYSE: UHS) subsidiary Manatee Health System, expanding its reach in Florida. Dubbed Manatee Health at Home by BAYADA, the companies aim to leverage their combined post-acute services continuum to meet rising demand for in-home care among seniors in Southwest Florida. The new joint venture has begun accepting new patients and is currently hiring staff.

Full Practice Authority Gains Ground in 26 States: What This Means for Nurse Practitioners

In the long struggle to gain full practice authority (FPA), nurse practitioners (NPs) can point to notable advances in the last few years. Now, patients in more than half of the states, the District of Columbia, and two U.S. territories have full, direct healthcare access from NPs. In April 2022, New York and Kansas granted FPA to NPs. That brings to 26 the number of states where NPs can practice to the top of their license without restriction.

While home health operators brace for the impact of the meager 2023 reimbursement rates, hospices likewise must prepare for a ripple effect. Kain Capital Forms New Hospice Holdings Company, Makes First Acquisition

Kansas City-based Hospice Care of America (HCA) was recently acquired by a newly formed holdings company established by the private equity firm Kain Capital LLC. Financial details of the transaction were undisclosed. Kain Capital established PERA Holdings as a way to gain a foothold in the hospice market. HCA marks the company’s first purchase, acquiring a majority stake in the company through the transaction.
