New research is carving out the case for palliative care investment as more hospices dive into this growing market. A recently published study from Scientific Reports found that cancer patients who received palliative care services required 38% fewer emergency department visits and saw 56% fewer hospital admissions than those who did not. Additionally, the palliative care patients spent 71% fewer total days in the hospital prior to death.

Hosparus Health has cut the ribbon on a $1.7 million Community Center in Campbellsville, Kentucky, expanding its clinical service area and the range of services available to that community. Hosparus Health funded the project in part through its $500,000 People of Compassion comprehensive fundraising campaign. This extends the nonprofit hospice and palliative care provider’s Green River location, which cares for patients in five Kentucky counties.
