Alice Ting Hong Young was born on October 24, 1911, in the Chinatown section of Honolulu. In 1949, she approached a busy obstetrical office in Honolulu and was hired to create a series of six two-hour classes about pregnancy, labor and delivery, and infant care. She passed away in 1992 and is buried in Honolulu.
