To me, medicine spans not only a patient’s symptoms, diseases, and therapies, but also their family, employment, hobbies, and future. Between clinical rotations she spends her time perfecting her baking skills, watching new films, and learning how not to kill all her houseplants. For me, being a doctor was never about finding a cure.

They get less curative therapy, preventive therapy, all the stuff that we have worked assiduously as a field to develop, great technologies to improve quality of life and extend life expectancy. So the simulations we were just talking about are full scale, like you’re on a film set. And very time-consuming.
