The Hap Foundation, Illinois Hospice and Palliative Care Organization Reach New Management Agreement

The Illinois Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (IL-HPCO) has penned a three-year association management contract with The HAP Foundation to provide counsel and operational support.

The two organizations have copacetic missions. The HAP Foundation is an independent nonprofit that provides experienced hospice and palliative care management staff who can assist organizations by leading their operations, education and advocacy efforts. The foundation also offers consulting in end-of-life care and expanding the community health worker profession.

IL-HPCO is an industry advocacy group dedicated to promoting and enhancing palliative and end-of-life care in the state of Illinois through education, advocacy, and technical and supportive services.

“With our strong alignment in advancing hospice and palliative care, The HAP Foundation is uniquely positioned to provide association management services to coalitions, such as IL-HPCO, that represent palliative and hospice care providers statewide,” Joseph Matty, president of The HAP Foundation, said in a statement. “Working with IL-HPCO leadership, The HAP Foundation will complement the existing infrastructure while expanding its opportunities beyond its current capabilities. The natural progression of this partnership aligns with our mutual goals of creating a better continuum of care for individuals with a serious illness through the evolution of their life.”

Sara Dado, executive director of the HAP Foundation, will also become executive director of IL-HPCO. She was previously on the organization’s board of directors between 2018 and 2022, serving as chair for part of that time.

“IL-HPCO is excited to be working with HAP and begin a partnership with an organization with which we share passions, polished professionalism, and community commitments,” Doug Irvin, IL-HPCO Board Chair, said in a press release.
